Library

The Melbourne Latvian Library has been operating since 1949 and is still one of the largest Latvian libraries outside of Latvia. The aim of the library is to catalogue and store all publications associated with the Latvian diaspora.

In November, 2013 a project was initiated to digitalise the entire catalogue of over 19000 publications. The project was completed in February, 2015 and the recently-installed iPad now offers an easy-to-use and powerful search facility to locate books and publications by author, title, description, category, editor, publisher and other keywords.

The library is open on Wednesdays from 12:00 – 15:00 and on Saturdays from 12:00 – 15:00.
